About Bob Ochoa

Professional Dog Trainer

Instructor |Obedience Training | Behavior Modification

Bob Ochoa brings over 18 years of professional dog training experience and over 35 years of large and small pet care and obedience dog training to the industry.

Starting out as a client himself, with his first German Shepard (GSD), Harlie, Bob discovered he really enjoyed training and has a real talent for connecting and communicating with dogs.

In 2006, he began his canine training career as an Assistant Trainer with an experienced canine veteran of 30 years,  Head Dog Trainer, Ron Bruce.  The training and experience he has received prompted Bob to start his own dog training business, Ruff Riders Dog Training in 2008, providing clients with Dog Training and other pet services in addition to continuing to train dogs with Mr. Bruce.

Ron has said that Bob’s calm demeanor and good humor has been a big asset to the training program.

When Ron retired in 2017, he handed over the leash to Bob / Ruff Riders Pet Services LLC, who then took over dog training and consulting as Head Canine Trainer at an established boarding facility until late in 2020 when Bob decided he wanted to give his clients and their dogs a more personal, home environment training. Doing so, Bob has found the dogs react better to training. (And all the kisses and belly rubs dogs do not get at a cement kennel).

Bob believes that every dog has their own personality and each one and their owners should have personalized training that prioritizes the emotional well-being at both ends of the leash for success. All our client’s dogs are treated like family.

Bob graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Sociology and a degree in Coaching and Physical Education. He also holds an Associate in Liberal Arts from Aims Community College. He continues to invest in classroom and online education, as he is a believer in lifelong learning.

His experience and education transfer over into his skill set of working with dogs and their owners. He continues to learn and stay on top of canine training as well as the best practices to train family pets and teach clients how to handle their dogs after a 2 or 3-week doggy boot camp.

Bob grew up on a farm in Sterling, Colo. where he enjoyed all types of domestic pets and wildlife. He has experience with dogs, cats, exotic birds, horses and skunks. Yes, skunks; ask him about it sometime.

About Loki, Spike, Nugget & Kazoo

Assistant Social Distractors

Family | Your Pet’s Best Friends

All of our dogs love to show off their knowledge and skill of walking on loose leash and off leash. They are our mascots and “show & tell”. They love to make the other dogs coming into the board and train program feel welcome and part of a lifelong pack.

Loki – The older of the group but pup at heart. She shows the new kids the ropes.

Spike – He is the clown and plays with the new recruits until everyone is tired out. *that’s his job, Mr Social Butterlfy, Tire The New Kids Out.

Nugget – She observes mostly but definitely is the rabble-rouser for snackies and potty breaks.

Kazoo – Queen of the Roost. She’s loud and loves to let the dogs know she is the boss.
